Turn a worksheet into a quiz

Already have a worksheet, vocabulary list, exercise sheet or past test you trust, in any subject? You don't need new questions. Upload it and the quiz keeps your questions word for word, in your order, and only adds what a quiz needs: the answers, short explanations and, for multiple choice, the wrong options.

Before you start

  • The worksheet as a PDF, a clear photo of the printed sheet, or its text copied into the Text tab.
  • A rough idea of the question type you want. Multiple choice suits questions with one clear answer, like a calculation or a date; short answer suits definitions and vocabulary.
  1. 1

    Add the sheet

In the quiz maker, open the PDF, Image or Text tab and add your sheet. Photos work best when the page is flat, well lit and fills the frame: every number that is read wrongly from the photo becomes a wrong question.

  2. 2

Choose “Turn my worksheet into a quiz”

Under What should we make from it? pick Turn my worksheet into a quiz. The small example underneath shows what happens to each exercise.

The other option, New questions from my content, treats the sheet as reading material and writes fresh questions about it. Use that when you want more practice on the same skill rather than the same exercises.

  3. 3

Add instructions if you need to

The optional instructions box takes plain sentences, for example:

    • “Only use exercises 1 to 8.”
    • “Skip the word problems.”
    • “Write the explanations in Portuguese.”
    • “Turn the vocabulary list into fill-in-the-blank sentences.”

The question count becomes a maximum in this mode. A sheet with six exercises gives six questions, never ten with four invented ones.

  4. 4

    Generate, then read the answers

The quiz opens in the editor when it is ready. Each answer has been worked out and a second AI has checked it independently; anything it disagrees with is marked Check this answer. Read the quiz as you would a worksheet you photocopied for a class: you are still the last check.

Exercises that don't fit the question type are skipped

A “draw the graph” or “explain in a paragraph” exercise has no multiple-choice version, so it is left out rather than forced. If the quiz has fewer questions than your sheet, that is usually why. Choose Mix types, or Short answer, to keep more of them.

Common questions

Will it change my numbers or wording?

No. Questions keep their wording, numbers and order. The only change you may see is in how powers are written: 2^5 is shown as 2⁵ so it reads properly everywhere.

Does this use a generation?

Yes, one generation per quiz, the same as any other way of making a quiz.

Can I upload a sheet with the answers already on it?

Yes, but the answers are worked out again rather than copied, so they can be checked. If your sheet's answer differs from the quiz's, look at that question first.
