Edit and fix questions

The quiz you generate is a first draft. The editor is where you make it yours: reword a question, fix an answer key, drop the one that doesn't fit, and add the question the AI missed.

Before you start

  • A quiz you have generated. The editor opens automatically after generating, or open any quiz from your quiz library.
  1. 1

    Change any wording

Click a question or an answer option and type. This is worth doing for wording your class will recognise — swapping a generic example for the one you used in the lesson makes the quiz feel like it came from you, because it did.

  2. 2

Fix the answer key and the explanation

Each question carries the correct answer and a short explanation. The explanation is what a student sees after they answer, so it is worth a read: it is the part that does the teaching.

Mark the right option, and correct the explanation if it is vague. A good explanation says why the wrong answer is tempting, not just what the right one is.

If a question has two defensible answers, that is usually a sign the question needs rewording rather than the key needs changing. Questions marked “Check this answer” are where a second AI disagreed with the key: start there. While editing, the Maths symbols bar inserts x², √, × and more where your cursor is.

  3. 3

Let the AI change one question

Every question has a ✨ AI button. It can make the question easier or harder, reword it so it reads more clearly, write new wrong answers (multiple choice), write the explanation, or change the question type, for example from multiple choice to fill in the blank.

The new version replaces the question on screen and a message offers Undo. It is a draft like any other edit: nothing changes for students until you save, and Cancel throws it away.

Read the answer before you save. The automatic answer check runs on newly generated quizzes, not on a single question the AI has just changed.

  4. 4

Make a version for a group

Make a version, at the top of the editor, rewrites the whole quiz question by question:

    • Support for students who are finding it hard: simpler wording, one step at a time, three options.
    • Stretch for students who are ready: applying the idea in new situations, with wrong answers built on real misconceptions.
    • Themed: the same skills told through something your class loves, such as football or space. The theme is the setting; the questions still test your topic.

The version is saved as a new quiz and opens in the editor, so you can check it and share it with just that group. The original is not touched.

  5. 5

    Add, remove and reorder

Use Add question to write one yourself, and the delete control on any question you don’t want. You can reorder questions, which is worth doing so the quiz opens with something most of the class will get right.

The order you set is the order students see, and it stays put in exports and printouts.

  6. 6

    Save

Changes are kept when you save, and the editor tells you when you have unsaved work. If students have already taken the quiz, editing is still safe: their finished attempts keep the answers and grading they had at the time.

Editing after students have answered

Changing an answer key does not re-grade attempts that are already finished. Those students keep the result they saw. If a key was genuinely wrong, the fair fix is usually to tell the class, rather than to quietly change the number.

Common questions

Does editing use up a generation?

No. Editing, reordering, deleting and saving are free and unlimited on every plan. The ✨ AI edits on single questions don't use a generation either: the free plan includes 15 a day and Pro 200. Make a version creates a whole new quiz, so it uses one generation.

Can I add my own question that the AI didn't write?

Yes. Add a question, choose its type, and fill in the answer options and key yourself. It behaves exactly like a generated one.

Can two teachers edit the same quiz?

Anyone in the workspace with an editor role or above can open and edit it. Avoid editing the same quiz at the same time, as the last save wins.
