Random Student Selector & Name Picker Wheel

A spin wheel name picker is a digital tool that randomly selects a name from a list using an animated spinning wheel. Teachers, trainers, and event hosts use it to pick participants fairly and add an element of excitement to the selection process. Unlike drawing popsicle sticks or manually scanning a roster, a random student selector ensures every name has an equal chance of being chosen.

This free wheel of names runs entirely in your browser with no sign-up, no downloads, and no ads. Simply enter your student names (one per line), click SPIN, and watch the wheel slow to a dramatic stop. The selected name is highlighted with a celebratory animation, and you can optionally remove it so it won't be picked again — perfect for round-robin participation.

A classroom spinner is one of the simplest ways to boost engagement and ensure equitable participation. Use it for cold calling during discussions, assigning group roles, choosing who presents first, or running quick review games. The element of chance removes social pressure — students accept the result because it's random, not personal.

For a complete classroom toolkit, pair this random name picker with our Seating Chart Generator to create randomized seating plans, and our Classroom Timer to keep timed activities on track. All free, all instant, all designed for educators.
